How to Uninstall EdbMails from Your Computer
Uninstalling EdbMails removes the application from your Windows computer. It does not affect mailbox data that has already been migrated, because migrated items are stored in the target mailboxes, not on the computer running EdbMails. You might uninstall EdbMails after a completed migration project, before moving the migration to another computer, or as part of troubleshooting.
You do not need to uninstall EdbMails to install a newer version. Running the new installer on the same computer upgrades the application, and your license, activation status, and saved connections carry over.
Before You Uninstall EdbMails
- Complete or stop any running migration job, then close EdbMails.
- Save any migration reports you need for your records.
- Keep your license details. If you plan to install EdbMails on another computer, contact EdbMails support about your license first.
- Sign in to Windows with an account that is allowed to uninstall applications, usually an administrator account.
- If you are uninstalling after a completed migration, confirm that the post-migration tasks in the Office 365 migration checklist, such as mailbox verification and mail flow testing, are finished.

Uninstalling EdbMails vs Removing the EdbMails App from Your Tenant
Uninstalling removes only the desktop application. If you registered EdbMails in Entra ID (Azure AD) with Auto Registration or Manual Registration, the application registration and the permissions granted to it remain in the Office 365 tenant after you uninstall.
| Action | Result |
|---|---|
| Uninstall EdbMails | Removes the application from the computer |
| Delete the EdbMails app registration in Entra ID | Removes the application and the permissions granted to it from the tenant |
| Migrated mailbox data | Not affected by either action; the data remains in the target mailboxes |
After the migration project is complete, a Global Admin can delete the EdbMails application registration in the Microsoft Entra admin center under Applications > App registrations.
Reinstalling EdbMails for a New Migration Project
If you uninstall EdbMails to move the migration to another computer or to start a new project, install EdbMails on the new computer and confirm that it meets the system requirements before you connect the source and target. For the full migration workflow, review the Office 365 migration guide. For supported migration scenarios and features, see the EdbMails Office 365 Migration Tool.
Common EdbMails Uninstall Problems
