2. Barracuda to Office 365 Migration Prerequisites

   1. Create Office 365 mailboxes and assign licenses to them

   2. If you plan to migrate the Barracuda archive to Office 365 Public folders, ensure that you create and configure the Public folder mailboxes on the target server.

   4. If you have a custom email domain from the source which you want to retain and receive emails to, you must add and verify the domain on Office 365.

   5. Configure Office 365 to send and receive large messages.

3. Steps to Migrate from Barracuda to Office 365

   • Step 1: Download and install the EdbMails software

     • Provide your registered email address and password, then click ‘Login’. If you are a new user, click on ‘Start Your Free Trial’ to continue with the trial edition.
       Note: The trial version gives access to all essential features and permits exporting up to 30 items per folder. To remove this limit and enable unlimited exports, purchase a genuine license from the official EdbMails website.

       Once the purchase is finished, exit the application and reopen it. Log in again using the same email address and password used at the time of purchase to complete the license activation successfully.

       

     • Select ‘Outlook PST Recovery and Migration'

       

     • Select ‘PST to Office 365’.

       

     • You may continue with the default job name or select ‘New Job’ to create a custom name for easy identification.
     • Then click ‘Next’ to proceed.

       

   • Step 2: Select the offline PST file and connect to the source

     • Before starting the migration process, make sure your Barracuda mailbox data has been successfully exported to PST format.
     • To select the PST file, click on ‘Browse for PST file’ and select the file from your system.

       

     • Select the offline PST file from your local drive that you want to migrate/export.
     • After choosing the file, click ‘Next’ to continue with the migration process.

       

   • Step 3: Preview and select the Barracuda server mailboxes

     • EdbMails scans your PST file and recovers data in case of corruption.

       

     • Once the recovery process is finished, the complete folder structure is displayed in the left panel. You can browse through the mailbox and expand each folder to check the restored items. The integrated preview option allows you to open and view emails, contacts, notes, tasks, calendars, and folders directly within the application interface.
     • Select the required mailboxes / folders and click the ‘Next’ button.

       

   • Step 4: Connect to the target Office 365 server

     • Select the ‘Add New Connection’ option to establish a connection with your target Office 365 account.
     • If you have previously set up a connection, you can choose it from the available list and click ‘Connect to Existing’ to proceed.

       

     • EdbMails enables you to migrate primary mailboxes, archive mailboxes, and public folders through one unified and flexible solution.
     • Choose the appropriate migration operation based on your specific needs and click ‘Next’ to continue with the authentication process.

       

     • Select the secure authentication option you prefer for the target Office 365 account.
     • You will be redirected to the official Microsoft sign-in page, where your credentials are verified using OAuth 2.0 to ensure secure and protected access.
     • Click the ‘Login’ button to proceed.

     • After signing in to your target Office 365 server, select the preferred method to load the mailboxes.
     • EdbMails automatically loads mailboxes to make the setup process simple and quick. However, due to Microsoft API limitations, only up to 100 mailboxes can be displayed at a time.
     • For large organizations or when you need to choose specific mailboxes, select the ‘Load Mailboxes using .CSV file’ option. This allows manual selection and provides complete control over the mailbox loading process.
     • Click ‘Next’ to proceed.

       

   • Step 5: Barracuda to Office 365 source and target mailboxes mapping

     • Choose the required mailbox mapping option

       

     • EdbMails automatically creates mailboxes on your target Office 365 server and assigns the necessary licenses.

     • By default, EdbMails automatically maps the mailboxes and folders between the source and the target server. You can also manually map the source mailboxes to the required target mailboxes.

       

   • Step 6: Start Barracuda to Office 365 migration

     • Click the 'Start Migration’ button to initiate the migration process.

       

     • The migration process will now begin, and you can track its status in the progress bar. EdbMails also allows you to pause and resume the operation at any point. Once the migration is complete, a confirmation message will be displayed to indicate successful completion.

       

     • You can verify the list of migrated folders and mailbox items with EdbMails text-based migration log report.
     • Once the migration is successfully completed, log in to your target Office 365 account and verify that all the mailbox items have been migrated correctly.

4. Barracuda to Office 365 post migration tasks

   • Step 1: Update the MX records to point to Office 365

     If you have not done this step previously, change the DNS records known as MX records to enable email and receive messages on the target Office 365 server. In addition, configure the Autodiscover record to allow Outlook to connect to the migrated mailboxes.

   • Step 2: Create a new Outlook profile for users in the new domain

     Configure the Outlook profile for each user in your domain if Outlook has problems connecting to Office 365 mailboxes.
