How to upgrade to the latest version, and what is the difference?
Keeping migration software updated ensures maximum performance, stability, and access to the latest features. The EdbMails IMAP Email Migration tool provides regular updates that enhance functionality, resolve critical issues, and improve security for enterprise environments. The version information is always displayed at the top of the main application window and follows a standardized versioning format.
Version numbers
The Application version is always visible at the very top of the main application window. It consists of 4 numbers separated by dots. Example: 6.1.0.13, These numbers indicate the stage and type of update according to the following pattern:
[major].[minor].[maintenance].[build]
which means the following:
- Major version: The first (leftmost) number represents the major version. This changes rarely and only when the software introduces significant new features or major architectural updates.
- Minor version: The second number denotes the minor version, which increments with planned improvements, new functionalities, or feature enhancements. Detailed information is always available in the release notes.
- Maintenance version: The third digit indicates the maintenance version. It changes when unplanned but critical updates are released, typically to address urgent bug fixes that cannot wait for the next minor update.
- Build number: The final number refers to the build number, which reflects smaller updates such as user interface refinements, performance optimizations, security patches, and minor bug fixes.
