Connect Single or Multiple IMAP Accounts in EdbMails
Use this page to choose the correct connection workflow before starting an EdbMails IMAP migration. A single-user connection is useful for a pilot mailbox or one-off migration, while the multiple-user workflow uses a CSV file to prepare bulk mailbox projects.
Before connecting, collect the source IMAP host name, port, TLS/SSL requirement, email address, and the authentication method required by the provider. Common IMAP ports are 993 for IMAP over TLS/SSL and 143 for IMAP where the provider supports that configuration, but always use the settings published by the source service.
Authentication note: IMAP providers do not all use the same sign-in method. Some support OAuth or provider sign-in, while others may require a password or app password. For Gmail and Google Workspace, Google recommends Sign in with Google where available; app passwords are only available in specific 2-Step Verification configurations and can be restricted by organization policy.
Standard IMAP access is email-focused. It provides access to email messages and mail folders stored on the server; contacts, calendars, tasks, and rules require separate provider-specific or application-specific workflows.

- Connect a single IMAP user — use for one mailbox, testing, or a pilot migration.
- Connect multiple IMAP users — use the sample CSV to prepare and validate bulk mailbox connections.
Connection checklist
- Confirm that the mailbox data you need is still stored on the IMAP server.
- Verify the IMAP host name, port, and encryption requirement.
- Use the provider-supported authentication method for the account.
- Check provider limits on simultaneous IMAP connections before increasing concurrency.
- Test one or more representative mailboxes before loading a large production CSV.
- After connection, review the loaded mailbox and folder list before starting the migration.
