Connect Multiple IMAP Accounts Using CSV
Use the bulk connection workflow to prepare multiple source IMAP mailboxes for one EdbMails migration project. A CSV reduces repetitive manual entry and is useful for organization-wide migrations, staged batches, and administrator-managed mailbox moves.
The CSV should contain the connection fields required by the EdbMails template, such as the mailbox email address, authentication credential, IMAP host name, and port. Authentication varies by provider, so do not assume that every account uses a normal mailbox password. Validate a small test CSV before loading the full production list.
Protect the CSV because it may contain sensitive authentication information. Store it only where authorized administrators can access it, close the file before loading it into EdbMails, and remove or securely retain temporary copies according to your organization's credential-handling policy after the migration project.
- Select ‘Multiple (Bulk) Users/Accounts Migration’ and click
‘Next’.
- Click ‘Download Sample CSV File’ to obtain the EdbMails template for
bulk IMAP mailbox connections.
- Update the CSV with the required source mailbox fields, including email
address, provider-supported authentication credential, IMAP host name, and port.
Keep the column names and structure expected by the EdbMails template.
- Save the completed CSV and close it before loading the file into EdbMails.
- Click ‘Browse CSV File’, select the updated CSV, and load it into
EdbMails. Review any connection or validation errors before proceeding.
- Verify that the expected mailboxes were loaded successfully. Correct failed
connections or incorrect server details before starting the destination-specific
migration workflow.
Bulk connection checklist
- Test a small representative CSV before the full production batch.
- Use the authentication method required by each provider; Gmail and Google Workspace may require a supported OAuth/provider sign-in path or an app password only where the account policy permits it.
- Check provider limits on simultaneous IMAP sessions before increasing migration concurrency.
- Review the loaded mailbox list and migration mapping before starting the transfer.
