Automatically map source and target mailboxes

Default Auto Mapping Feature

EdbMails automatically maps mailboxes by comparing the first and last names or the display names of the users in both the source and target servers.

First and Last Names:

EdbMails compares the first and last names of users in both source and target servers. If there is a close match, the mailboxes are automatically mapped.

Display Names:

The software also checks the display names. When display names are similar, EdbMails pairs the corresponding mailboxes automatically.

Near matching logic

EdbMails incorporates near matching logic, which allows it to automatically map mailboxes even when there are slight differences. For example, if the source email is abc@source.com and the target email is abc123@target.com, EdbMails will recognize the similarity and automatically map these mailboxes.

If there are no mailboxes in your target servers, EdbMails automatically creates mailboxes on your target Office 365 and assigns the license.

Mapping mailboxes manually

If you prefer not to have the application automatically map mailboxes, you can manually select the mailboxes from the users list and map them yourself.

1. Click the target mailboxes column

2. Click 'Select the Target Mailbox from existing list'

   

3. Select the mailbox from the available list and proceed

   

Automatic mapping of public folders

Public folders can be automatically mapped between the source and target Office 365 servers using EdbMails auto mapping feature, which operates independently of user mailbox mapping patterns. It's essential that the public folders exist in the target environment for this feature to work correctly.

Mapping shared mailboxes

Shared mailbox mapping is the same as primary mailboxes. To map shared mailboxes, first create the shared mailboxes in the target Office 365 server.

Mapping archive mailboxes

EdbMails automates the mapping of archive mailboxes during migrations, simplifying the process. Prior to beginning, it's important to manually enable these archive mailboxes on your target server.

Customized folder mapping

EdbMails allows customized folder mapping on the target Office 365 server. This feature enables users to manually map source folders to specific target folders during the migration process, ensuring precise and organized data migration.

Follow the steps below to view the list of the target mailbox folders and map the source mailbox folder to the required target mailbox folder.

1. In the mapping window, click the dropdown icon and select 'Select the Target Mailbox from existing list'

   

2. Select the target mailbox and click the 'List Target Mailbox Folders' button

   

3. Select the target folder and click ‘OK’ to proceed to the next steps.

   

Conditional mapping

EdbMails offers conditional folder mapping, allowing you to define the exact target folder path, thus overriding the default source path. This feature lets you specify the destination folder for migrating data from the source folder. You can apply this conditional mapping to a specific folder path for a single mailbox or to all mailboxes by selecting 'All'.

For Instance, if your source folder path is '/Inbox/Sent Items' and you want to move the 'Sent Items' folder directly under the mailbox, you can easily configure the target location as '/Sent Items'.

Follow the steps below to set the conditional mapping for your source and the target folders

1. Click the ‘Conditional mapping‘ button in the mapping window.

   

2. Enter the source and the target mailboxes folder paths and proceed.

   

3. You can specify the folder path for each individual mailbox.

   

4. You can add the folder path for multiple mailboxes in bulk using CSV and Browse.
