Easy Configuration of Source and Target Office 365 Servers

Configuration Steps

1. Authenticate the source Microsoft 365 tenant through the Microsoft sign-in page using an administrator account with the permissions required for the selected migration.
2. Load and select the source mailboxes. EdbMails supports automatic mailbox loading and CSV-based loading for supported workflows.
3. Authenticate the target Microsoft 365 tenant, then map source mailboxes to the required target mailboxes.
4. Configure the required migration settings and filters, and run a trial migration to review mailbox mapping, selected folders, migrated items, and target placement.
5. Review the trial results and configuration before proceeding with the full migration.

Modern Authentication

EdbMails uses Microsoft's sign-in process for modern authentication when connecting supported Microsoft 365 migration workloads. This keeps authentication within the Microsoft sign-in flow rather than requiring administrators to enter Microsoft 365 passwords directly into the migration interface. For the full breakdown of how EdbMails secures authentication, encryption, and data in transit, see Secure Office 365 Migration.

Authentication on Microsoft Sign-in Page

Signing in through EdbMails uses the standard Microsoft Sign-In page, the same one your admins already use. There's no separate login to set up and no new passwords to manage. Use an administrator account with the roles and permissions required for the selected migration operation. Required access can vary by workload and tenant configuration, so verify the applicable source and target prerequisites before starting the migration.

Automatic Mailbox Loading

Once EdbMails connects to the tenant, mailboxes can be loaded for selection without building the migration list manually. For larger environments or when you want to control the mailbox list directly, EdbMails also supports CSV-based mailbox import.

Guided Setup Wizard

Getting the migration settings right from the start saves a lot of headaches later. EdbMails walks administrators through the entire configuration — endpoints, authentication details, migration options, and filter settings — through a guided interface that keeps everything in order. The guided workflow keeps the main migration settings together and reduces repetitive manual configuration. Tenant-side prerequisites, permissions, licensing, and other Microsoft 365 settings should still be verified where required for the selected migration.

Integrated Testing Environment

Before beginning a full migration, administrators can use the EdbMails Free Trial to migrate a limited set of items and review the target results. This helps verify source-to-target mailbox mapping, selected folders, migrated items, supported folder hierarchy, and target placement before proceeding with the complete migration. For EdbMails, the initial migration from a source to a target is a full migration. Subsequent migrations using the same source and target from the previous migration on the same computer are incremental and process supported new or changed items according to the selected migration settings. For additional pre-migration and post-migration checks, see the Office 365 migration health checks and validation guide.
