\Outlook\Profiles) is not carried over, particularly after a clean install rather than an in-place upgrade. - Roaming or domain-joined accounts may re-authenticate under a new local profile, breaking the link between Windows credentials and the cached Outlook profile.
- Outlook regenerates its data folder path, so the OST file that previously loaded automatically is left in the old profile folder, unreferenced by any active profile.
None of this affects the mailbox stored on the mail server. Locating the OST File After the Upgrade
Before assuming data loss, check whether the OST file survived the upgrade. Its default location depends on the Outlook version:
