Office 365 to PST Export


  • Step 1: Make sure that the required roles are assigned for the admin account which is used to connect the source Office 365 account
    1. Verify for the source admin account has the below management roles assigned:

      • ApplicationImpersonation
      • View-Only Configuration
      • View-Only Recipients
      • Public Folders
      • User management administrator/Global administrator*

      Note: Assign the elevated admin role 'Organization Management' to the administrator account that is performing a Public Folder migration

    2. Make sure the Global admin account has a valid, non-hidden mailbox on the source.
  • Step 2: Make sure that Outlook should be installed on your system

    For Office 365 to PST export, Outlook need to installed on your system. You can install any latest version of outlook. Click here to create a new profile in Outlook for all users in a domain.

  • Step 3: Install EdbMails Office 365 Migration

    a. Download and install EdbMails on your computer.   Download

    b. Double click the EdbMails setup (EdbMailsSetup.exe) to install the application.

    c. Follow the instructions that appear to complete the installation.


  • Step 4: 'Login' or 'Start Your Free Trial' to access the application

    Click the 'Login' or 'Start Your Free Trial' button.

Migration process

Follow the below steps for the configuration of EdbMails Office 365 Migration:

  • Step 1: Select migration

    Select the option 'Office 365 Migration (Tenant to tenant migration & more...)'.

  • Step 2: Connect to the source Office 365
  • Step 3: Select mailboxes you want to Export to Outlook PST

    Select the mailboxes for Export

    Select the mailboxes / folders that you wish to export and choose 'Export To Outlook PST'.

    Start the Export Operation

    Click the 'Continue' button to start the operation

    Select Mailboxes

    Select the required export method and click the ‘Continue’

    Select PST Location

    If the PST location has not been selected then the application will prompt to select the PST location. Select the PST location where you want to save the exported data. Ensure that you have enough free disk space to store the PST files.

    That's it! During export operation, you can view the progress as shown below.

    Appropriate message will be displayed on completion of the export operation.

    Click the 'View Log' button to view the export operation log.

    Start Microsoft Outlook and open the PST file to verify exported items such as emails, calendars, contacts etc.
