The underlying connection was closed


This error may occur due to various reasons; one among them may be due to large items migration. Migration of those items need more time and there is a chance of destination connection being closed.


If you are authorized to control the server configurations

  • Add bigger value to the connection timeout for incoming data transfers (Refer the below image for IIS. Set the value greater than 120).
  • Increase the size limit which can be framed through the API.

To change the timeout value:

  • Open the IIS manager (run -> inetmgr.exe).
  • Browse the default website or the Exchange website on the left side pane.
  • Right-click on Manage Website, then select Advanced Settings, expand limits. Increase the Connection Time-out for wich the default value is set to 120 seconds.


Try to perform migration again.
